The
territory of the
Municipality is incredibly large and yet remains quite
accessible by land and by air. A network of maintained
roads makes it possible to connect every part of the
territory.
Radisson
and
Chibougamau are
equipped with an airport served by scheduled flights.
Chartered flights can be organized to reach the towns
of
Matagami,
Lebel-
sur- Quévillon and practically every
community.
Extending from the 49th to the 55th parallel, the James
Bay territory is inhabited by over 21 000 jamesian
and more than 12 000 Cree natives living throughout
nine
communities.
Each part of this territory has a unique characteristic.
Rivers and lakes abound, punctuating this is a large
fabric of the Boreal Forest. To the horizon, the landscape
reveals an ocean of lichens on which float small islands
of gray pines and black spruce. To visit the True North
is also to tame a fauna and a flora with a frail appearance
though resistant enough to thrive in climatic fluctuations
experienced nowhere else on earth. The northern sky
is an amazing spectacle to admire, you will never see
as many stars. Our ever famous Aurora Borealis (Northern
Lights) are a time celestial and artistic phenomenon
that will dazzle you with amazement!
